Overview
In organizations' profiles, everyone is allowed access to JetBrains AI by default. You can block or allow your developers to use the AI features in their IDEs via the administration settings in your JetBrains Account.
You can choose to enable access to JetBrains AI for all users in the account or to manage access for each team individually.
This setting manages your developers’ access to the JetBrains AI Assistant plugin only. It does not affect AI features provided by other vendors via separately installed plugins.
Currently, there's no option to disable JetBrains AI in accounts with Free Classroom or Open Source Development licenses.

Allow access to JetBrains AI on a team-by-team basis
Before you start
If you want to enable team-by-team access to JetBrains AI, here's a quick guide. If any of the steps have already been taken care of, you can just move onto the next one.
If you manage license assignment via the JetBrains Account:
- Identify users: Figure out who in your organization needs to use AI Assistant.
- Hand out licenses: Assign an IDE license and a JetBrains AI Pro license to each user who needs one.
- Form teams: Add all the assigned IDE licenses to teams. These can be existing teams or new ones. If you want, you can also add the JetBrains AI Pro licenses to the same teams, but that’s not necessary.
- Enable JetBrains AI for the teams: Give the teams from step 3 access to JetBrains AI. Depending on your permissions, you can provide the team with access to JetBrains AI via either the organization's administration settings or in team settings. If you left the JetBrains AI Pro licenses in a separate team, you don't need to give that team access.
If you distribute licenses automatically via License Vault or IDE Services:
- Identify users: Figure out who in your organization needs to use AI Assistant.
- Hand out licenses: Make sure each user who needs access to JetBrains AI has both an IDE license and a JetBrains AI Pro license. IDE licenses can be distributed automatically through License Vault or IDE Services, but you still need to assign JetBrains AI Pro licenses manually in the JetBrains Account.
- Add licenses to the team: Make sure that the License Vault or IDE Services team in your organization's JetBrains Account contains all IDE licenses that should be distributed to users who need access to AI Assistant.
- Enable JetBrains AI for the team: Allow access to JetBrains AI for the License Vault or IDE Services team. Depending on your permissions, you can do that either in the organization's administration settings or in team settings.
