What is an OSS development license and who qualifies for one? Follow
Developers of open source projects can apply for a free OSS development license. The following criteria must be met in order to obtain a license:
- the project is at least 3 months old and has been actively maintained since creation
- the person requesting the license is the main developer, project lead or a regular committer
- the project may not be used for commercial purposes
A detailed definition of Open Source can be found here.
The OSS development license is issued for one year after JetBrains has reviewed and accepted the application. After one year, the license can be renewed upon request if the project is still active and still meets the requirements. The renewal does not occur automatically and requires the approval of JetBrains.
