Contacts in organizations
This article is for organizations with free сlassroom licenses. If your organization uses commercial licenses, you'll manage everything in the new, enhanced JetBrains Central Console. You can find detailed instructions in the JetBrains Central Console documentation.
Contacts receive notifications about your organization's products and licenses. There are two types of contacts:
- Order-specific contacts can only access and receive notifications about their assigned orders.
- Organization-wide contacts can access and receive notifications about all orders, products, and licenses across the organization.
Multiple users can be contacts for the same notification, and a single user can receive multiple notifications. Users in the contacts list can also have roles, such as org admin, which allow them to access organization management.
Order-specific contacts
When purchasing JetBrains products, you specify the licensee and billing contacts on the checkout page. The licensee receives your license certificate, while the billing contact receives the invoice for the order.
By default, your billing contact is the same as your licensee. However, you can provide a separate billing contact if you wish.
If you purchase your licenses through a sales representative or a JetBrains partner, they will specify your licensee and billing contact information on your behalf.
Contacts associated with orders placed on behalf of your organization are automatically added to your organization’s contact list. By default, they will only have access to this specific order and receive email notifications about it. You can assign additional notifications to them as needed.
Organization-wide contacts
These contacts receive notifications not just for a single order but for all resources in the organization, depending on which type of notification is assigned to them. For example, If they are set to receive Overdue invoices, they will receive notifications about overdue invoices for all the organization’s orders.

- Go to the Contacts section in your JetBrains Account.
- Click the New contact button at the top of the screen.
- In the New contact dialog, select the Add a contact from your company tab.
- Enter your contact’s name and email address and set their preferred notification language. Then, select the email notifications you want to assign.
- Click Save.
The new contact will immediately appear in your contact list.
Invite contacts
If you don’t have a verified domain or your contact’s email address doesn’t belong to it, you can’t add the contact directly. However, you can invite them to join your organizational profile.
- Go to the Contacts section in your JetBrains Account.
- Click the New contact button at the top of the screen.
- In the New contact dialog, select the Invite a contact tab.
- Select the email notifications to assign to this contact.
- Click Next.
- In the next step, you’ll see the invitation message. Click Copy to copy it to the clipboard or Go to email client to create an email draft.
- Share the message with your invitee via email or any other method.
To join your organizational profile, your invitee will need to do the following:
- Follow the link in the invitation.
- Log in with an existing JetBrains Account or create a new one.
Once the new contact has followed these steps, you’ll see them in the contact list.
Automatically added contacts
Contacts are added automatically in the following cases:
- When someone adds a new licensee or billing contact when placing an order on your company's behalf.
- When you disable an existing contact and reassign their notifications to a new person who wasn’t originally in your contact list.
These users will automatically appear on your contact list. By default, they don’t become organization-wide contacts, but you can assign additional notifications to them as needed.
Change existing contacts’ notifications
- Go to the Contacts section in your JetBrains Account.
- Find the contact whose notifications you want to change. You can search for a contact by name or email address. In the Notified about column, you’ll see their current notifications.
- Click Edit next to the contact’s email address.
- In the dialog, select or clear the checkboxes next to the notifications you want to assign to or remove from this contact.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
Disable contacts
You can disable a contact to stop them from receiving all email notifications. In some cases, you’ll also need to reassign their notifications to someone else.
If a contact also has a role assigned, disabling this contact will not revoke the user's access to the organization. To revoke access, see Change users' roles.
- Go to the Contacts section in your JetBrains Account.
- Find the contact you want to disable. You can search for a contact by name or email address. In the Notified about column, you’ll see their current notifications.
- Depending on the contact’s current notifications, you’ll see either a Disable or Disable/Reassign button in the last column of the contacts table. Click the button.
- If the contact is listed as the licensee or billing contact for at least one of your organization’s past orders, you'll be requested to provide a replacement contact to take over notifications for these orders.
For contacts without order history, a simple confirmation popup appears. - Click Disable or Disable & Reassign in the popup to confirm your action.
To re-enable a previously disabled contact, contact Support.
