Do I need a license to try it?

There is a Community Plan for Code With Me available in the community versions of IntelliJ IDEA and PyCharm, which will provide you with full functionality, though there are specific limits on the number of guests and session time. A paid subscription for a JetBrains IDE lifts these restrictions.
