Getting TeamCity legacy license keys

Starting from version 2024.7, TeamCity supports online activation through the JetBrains Account portal. You no longer need to download offline license keys and manually enter them on your TeamCity server. Now, to activate your license, just click the Get license key button on your server and log in with your JetBrains Account. Refer to the TeamCity documentation for step-by-step activation instructions.

You only need to do this once. As long as your TeamCity server has an active internet connection, any changes to your license, including renewals and adding build agents, will be delivered to your server automatically.

We highly recommend upgrading to TeamCity 2024.7 or higher to enjoy the streamlined activation process! However, if you’re using TeamCity version 2023.4 or earlier, you can still download and use your license keys. The steps you need to follow depend on whether you purchased your TeamCity license as an individual or on behalf of an organization.

You purchased your license as an individual

To get the legacy license keys for TeamCity 2023.4 or earlier, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your JetBrains Account using the email address you entered when purchasing your license.
2. On the account's main page, locate the TeamCity license you want to activate.
3. If you have not accepted the license agreement before, click Please review License Agreement to do so.
   
   In the License Agreement dialog that appears, scroll to the bottom of the text and click Accept.
4. On the TeamCity license, click Generate legacy license key.
   
5. In the popup, select your license key and copy it to the clipboard.
   

If you have any additional build agents in your account, you’ll need to repeat these steps with the agent licenses.

Your license was purchased on behalf of an organization

You can download your legacy license keys one by one, or if you have multiple licenses, you can use the bulk-export option.

You must have organization or team administrator permissions to complete these steps.  If you need help getting administrator permissions for your company's profile, please contact our Sales team.

Download license keys one by one

1. Log in to your JetBrains Account.
2. In the menu on the left, click on your organization’s or team’s name.
   
3. On the license overview page, select the Team Tools & Services tab.
   
4. Locate your TeamCity license.
5. On the TeamCity license card, click Generate legacy license key.
   
6. In the dialog that pops up, select your license key and copy it to the clipboard.
   

If you have any additional build agents in your account, you’ll need to repeat these steps with the agent licenses.

Download license keys in bulk

1. Log in to your JetBrains Account.
2. In the menu on the left, click on your organization’s or team’s name.
3. On the license overview page, click View licenses.
   
4. Find your TeamCity licenses in the license list. You can use the Product filter to do so.
   
5. Check the boxes next to all of the licenses for which you want to download the legacy license keys.
6. In the toolbar, select Manage | Export x TeamCity legacy license keys into .txt
   

That’s it! Your browser will download a .txt file with the legacy license keys. To activate your licenses, take this file to your TeamCity Server.
