How can I start using AI Assistant with a paid JetBrains AI Pro subscription?

AI Assistant is available in JetBrains IDEs as a bundled plugin. Follow the steps below to enable it and activate your JetBrains AI Pro subscription.

If you have a paid JetBrains IDE subscription, you may also be eligible for a free AI Assistant trial. Refer to this article to start a free trial.

1. Check your IDE version

You need version 2023.3 or later to use AI Assistant. For Community Edition IDEs, version 2024.1.1 is required.

If you're using an earlier version, update your IDE.

2. If you're activating a commercial JetBrains AI Pro subscription provided by your employer, make sure your IDE is not a Community Edition

With a Community Edition IDE, you can only use a JetBrains AI Pro subscription for individuals.

3. If you’re using a commercial IDE license provided by your employer, make sure AI Assistant is enabled in your organization

If you see an AI Assistant is disabled by your company message in the plugin, ask your organization admin to enable it. Here are the instructions for admins on how to enable AI Assistant.

4. Make sure your JetBrains AI Pro subscription is available in your JetBrains Account

Log in to your JetBrains Account and verify that the JetBrains AI Pro subscription is listed among your available licenses.

5. Enable the plugin and activate your subscription

Follow the instructions provided in your IDE’s documentation to enable the AI Assistant plugin. For example, here are the instructions for IntelliJ IDEA.
