Authorizing another person in your organization to activate your on-premises team tool licenses

Some of the JetBrains on-premises team tools require activation through JetBrains Account. The person performing the activation must have organization or team administrator permissions.

If you purchased the license yourself as an individual or on behalf of an organization, you already have the required permissions. However, to delegate the activation to someone else, you need to grant them the required permissions. Depending on the level of access you’re prepared to share, you have two options to do so.

Option 1: Grant organization administrator permissions

Organization administrators have full access to your company’s profile, licenses, transactions, and invoices. See this article for the full list of administrator permissions. For more granular access control, use team administrator permissions.

To invite the person activating your team tool as an organization administrator to your company’s profile, follow these instructions.

Option 2: Grant team administrator permissions

As a more granular solution, you can use the team administrator role. A team administrator can only manage the licenses that belong to a specific team within your company’s profile.

  1. Find the team that contains your team tool license. If you’re not sure which team that is, use the instructions below to locate it.
  2. Follow the instructions to invite a new team administrator.

If your license was purchased less than 7 days ago, the person activating it can also request license management permissions using the link in the purchase confirmation email.

Finding the team that contains a specific license

  1. Log in to your JetBrains Account with org admin permissions.
  2. In the menu on the left, click on your company's name.
    Enter account.png
  3. At the top of the page, click View licenses.
JBA Organizations – Main page, View licenses highlighted
  4. Find your license on the license view page. You can search for it by license ID or use the filters at the top of the page.
Asset view – Product filter with TeamCity selected
  5. Once you locate the license in the license table, find the team’s name in the Team column of the license table.

That’s the team that contains your license. To give someone else access to this license, invite them to this team as an admin.
