License assignment: Reassigning a commercial license to a new user

Symptoms

When a license is no longer in use by the previous user (e.g. a colleague with an assigned license leaves the company or no longer needs the product), it can be revoked and assigned to another team member.

Environment

• Customer type: Commercial
• Region: All regions
• Product: All JetBrains IDEs

Resolution

1. Make sure to have necessary permissions and role within the organization's account (Organization admin or Team admin)
   1. If the necessary permissions to manage licenses for users are missing, reach out to the organization or team administrator or contact Sales Support
   2. If the necessary permissions to manage licenses are enabled, follow the steps below:
      1. Login to JetBrains Central Console
      2. Revoke the license from the current user
      3. Assign the license to the new user
